With each unit, students will be given a list of vocabulary words or terms. Along with the list, I will provide the pronunciation, part of speech and definition. Students will practice using each word in a sentence with the word in context. This will enable students to review the vocabulary handouts each week instead of spending valuable time looking up the information. The number of words or terms assigned each week will vary throughout the year. Vocabulary quizzes will be given in a timely fashion. In addition to learning new terms within the text as they read, students will learn terms from classic mythology and history, words derived from Greek, words derived from Latin, and Latin roots. Students are not given “permission to forget” the terms or vocabulary words as we move through the year. Words learned early in the semester will show up again on later quizzes and assessments
